For the first time the Specialty Papers conference, jointly organised by Pira International and TAPPI, comes to Europe, following the footsteps of the two very successful editions in Chicago in 2009 and 2010.
For this year's program a thorough overview of the markets will be covered in different levels: globally and by region including US, Europe and for the first time, the Middle East. Technology developments like biobased and bioactive papers will be covered as well as a session devoted to machinery and equipment for specialty grades. Innovations in non-cellulosic fibers and printed electronics will round up the content on the second day touching on the latest research done by companies and organisations across the globe.
The programme features BELLMER, BYK CHEMIE, KELHEIM FIBRES, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland,FISHER INTERNATIONAL, PIRA INTERNATIONAL, MEAC Group Holding, NEENAH PAPER, AALTO UNIVERSITY, BARNET EUROPE, COATEMA COATING MACHINERY, ÅBO AKADEMI UNIVERSITY, HIROSE PAPER and PTS PAPIERTECHNISCHE STIFTUNG.
The new additions to the program include a pre-conference tour scheduled for Tuesday 29 November to Kelheim Fibres, providing a practical experience as well.

Erich Kollmar finished his studies in Business administration & mechanical engineering at Darmstadt University in 1996.
After work experience in USA in optimizing corrugators in Baltimore and on the introduction of a new sludge dewatering to the US market in Houston he returned to Germany.
After trainee education from engineering through on site supervision to guarantee run performance he entered sales for pulp & paper machines.
Since 2000 he is one of the three presidents running Bellmer group, responsible for world wide sales and technology of paper & board machines.
Arne Krolle has been Manager Paper Coatings NBD -BYK since 2006; Business Unit Industrial Applications since 2011

Dr. Mika Vähä-Nissi got his M.Sc. in 1994 and D.Tech. in 1998, both from Tampere University of Technology in Tampere, Finland. After working at the university for six years Mika joined KCL in 2000, where he worked as senior scientist and group leader. Since June 2009 Mika has been working for VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland in Espoo, Finland as senior scientist, team manager in biomaterial applications and research coordinator in the areas of packaging and composite materials. Mika has authored or co-authored over 50 conference papers, scientific articles and other publications. Mika is also active in EU COST Actions and Projects.
Dr. Ingo Bernt has been studying Chemistry at the University of Erlangen, Germany, where he received his Diploma 1996. Also at the University of Erlangen he undertook his PhD studies in the field of supramolecular chemistry, and graduated with the PhD title in Chemistry in 2001.
He started his career at Kimberly-Clark, where he was working as a live cycle manager and product developer for personal care hygiene products.
Since 2006 he is working in the product and process development for Kelheim Fibres, the leading producer of viscose specialty fibres.
Dr. Bernt is author / co-author of several scientific publications and patent applications in the field of supramolecular chemistry and specialty viscose fibres.
